November 25 2006 : After 6 years and 11 months, and countless efforts from Aamir and his many friends, he has finally been reunited with his wife Shafqat Batool, their son Muhammad Abbas (12 y.o.) and their daughter Shabih Zahra (9 y.o.). They arrived in Toronto, Canada on November 3rd on a direct flight from Pakistan and are now busy getting reacquainted and resettling together in a suburb of Montreal in the province of Quebec. Thanks to all who supported his quest in one way or another. This success is definitely the result of many many interventions which finally worked. All our best wishes to Aamir and his family for a smooth transition and a happy new life. We also thank them for their own huge contribution to the well being of all children in the world.

This is a remarkable breakthrough although the next steps will also be important. Your letters do work! please keep sending them and we will continue to keep you informed of further progress. A million thanks to each and everyone of you who has contributed to this breakthrough. There are now over 1,200 petition signatures from around the world. Some individuals and organisations have used these petitions, notably to demonstrate to the Canadian Government how Canadian citizens and other citizens of the world support such a just cause. Others have given additional support through other means. Many many thanks to you all. You have made the difference and allowed Aamir's request to make progress towards permanent residence in Canada."
